Yama and Yami

Yama and Yami
In early Vedic myth Yama and Yami were a hero king and his sister, or wife, rulers of a Valhalla of the Aryans, where the valiant would for ever enjoy the delights of a carnal paradise. Later, however, with the ousting of the early gods by Brahman importations, Yama gradually became grim and harsh, finishing as the guardian of the hell of the Hindus. Yama was an Adityas. In Chinese myth he was known as Yen-Wang. Yama and Yami were the children of Saranyu. Yama corresponds to the Zoroastrian Yima.
